“The Royal National Institute for the Deaf estimates that some 8.7 million people in the UK have some degree of hearing loss.” With this in mind, the Disability Discrimination Act states that any business or organisation providing a product or service to the general public must “provide auxiliary aids and services (such as installing a portable induction loop) to make it easier to use a service” wherever information is verbally provided. Full implementation of this legislation must be completed by 31st October 2004. In assisting to break down the barriers faced by many hearing-impaired people, Valley Technical Services now provide a range of fixed and portable induction loop systems to meet this legislation. Microphones, amplifiers and an extensive range of speakers are also available from a broad range of quality manufacturers. |
